The Rota Vicentina is a network of hiking trails in the Alentejo and Algarve provinces in Southern Portugal. The network includes two long-distance routes the Fisherman's Trail and the Historical Way, and several short circular routes some of which can be incorporated into one of the long-distance trails.We've walked both multi-day routes of the Rota Vicentina as well as some of the day hikes.

Not all the routes of the Camino de Santiago are equally extensive, so we have gathered the most traveled routes, added their kilometers and divided by the number of stages to find the perfect average for the kilometers that should be walked per day. The stamps must be collected twice per day if the pilgrim is travelling only the last 100 km by foot or horseback, or the last 200 km on bike. If travelling for longer distances, one stamp per day is adequate. The Camino can be undertaken in stages of any length in order to earn a Compostela.
Camino Primitivo Route. The Camino Primitivo, or Original Way, is a stunning and isolated trek through Galicia from Oviedo to Santiago de Compostela. The Camino Primitivo route is considered to be the very first of the pilgrimage route to Santiago. It is one of the most beautiful, challenging, and rewarding routes on the Camino de Santiago.
Although you do not need a high physical performance to complete the Camino de Santiago, you must overcome the daily kilometers that make up each of the stages. The minimum distance to obtain the Compostela is 100 kilometers, however there are many Jacobean routes that far exceed this figure.
Distance markers on the Camino count down the kilometres to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela (and on to Cape Finisterre). On the Kumano Kodo Nakahechi route , numbered markers (approximately every 500 meters) count up towards Kumano Hongū Taisha (and down towards Kumano Nachi Taisha ).
